Candle Care

Get the most from your Pennine & Pine candle by following these simple care and safety guidelines.

Before Your First Burn

Allow your candle to burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container. This usually takes between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the size of the candle.

Doing this helps prevent tunnelling and promotes an even burn throughout the life of your candle.

Trim the Wick

Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 5mm.

A properly trimmed wick helps produce a cleaner, steadier flame, reduces soot and extends the life of your candle.

Burn Time

For best results, burn your candle for no longer than 4 hours at a time.

Allow the wax to cool completely before relighting.

Keep the Wax Clean

Keep the wax free from wick trimmings, matches and any other debris, as these can become a fire hazard.

Extinguishing Your Candle

Use a candle snuffer where possible or gently blow out the flame.

Allow the candle to cool before replacing the lid or moving it.

When to Stop Burning

Discontinue use when approximately 10mm of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning beyond this point may cause the container to become excessively hot.

Candle Safety

Always:

  • Burn within sight.

  • Keep away from children and pets.

  • Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

  • Keep away from curtains, furniture and other flammable materials.

  • Keep candles at least 10cm apart when burning multiple candles.

  • Burn in a well-ventilated room, away from draughts.

Never:

  • Leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Burn near anything that could catch fire.

  • Move a candle while the wax is hot or the flame is lit.

  • Use water to extinguish a candle.
